Installed on a median island, “Garden” is a highly intriguing project that features a healthy tree confined in a cage, with bars spaced too far apart to get hold of a bird. “Garden” was constructed out of stainless steel tubes and glass fiber by May Hsu, a Taiwan-based visual artist and illustrator who had graduated from Parsons, the New School for Design. Hoping to bring peace of mind to a bustling urban spot, she erected this urban garden as a symbol of spiritual tranquility, nestled among trees lining the green boulevard that defined Dunhua S. Road’s beautiful streetscape.
